A simple checklist before you post a Shopee or TikTok sales video
A blog-length walkthrough: nine-by-sixteen, hooks, captions, sound, and what to measure after you publish — tuned for Malaysian sellers.
- Shopee
- TikTok
- 9:16
- Malaysia
- UGC
Malaysia’s seller ecosystem is uniquely cross-platform: discovery might happen on TikTok, trust might be reinforced on Instagram, and conversion might close on Shopee with vouchers and free shipping thresholds. Your clip does not need to do everything — but it does need to survive the first skip impulse on the platform where you post it.
This checklist assumes you already have product-market fit basics: clear SKU photos, honest reviews, and pricing that matches the offer in the video. Video amplifies truth; it rarely invents it.
Before you hit export
Lock technical basics first. Vertical 9:16, safe margins for UI overlays, and legible text at arm’s length on a phone. If your CTA is a promo code, show it long enough to copy — painfully obvious, yet commonly missed.
Audio: assume half your viewers are on mute initially. Lead visually, then reward sound-on listeners with a tighter read or subtle ambience — not deafening stock music that fights the voice.
- Frame 1: product + price or offer (or the single strongest hook if price is secondary).
- Avoid cluttering the lower third where platform captions and buttons sit.
- If you ship nationwide, say so once; repetition is not persuasion here.
- End with one CTA: follow, click cart, or use code — not a laundry list.
After posting: read the graph, not the ego
Three-second retention is your honest quality score. Comments are noisy; retention curves are blunt. If retention is weak, change the hook or first frame before you touch the body script.
When a clip works, duplicate the structure: same pacing skeleton, new offer line. Sellers who treat winners as templates scale faster than those who reinvent storyboards weekly from scratch.
Optional: cross-posting discipline
If you reuse a TikTok on Shopee, trim platform-specific memes that confuse Shopee buyers. Conversely, Shopee-forward warehouse footage might feel flat on TikTok unless you add a human line or humour beat.
You do not need unique scripts for every surface — you need intentional trims so each post respects the norms of where it lives.
